Forum Tags
(I hope I placed it in the right place... I mean this was meant to help both the new and old members with forum tags. ^_^
I decided to do one of these because of the recent influx of new members and the trouble they may have from figuring out how to format their posts (I know I did when I first came here @_@. For now I'll have the basics like how to post a picture, bold/underline/italics/strikethrough text and that junk. The more complicated stuff (like tables & list tags) will be added later.
First off, forum tags are similar to the HTML format. Except instead of using "<" and ">", the forum uses "[" and "]". Why? To make the code easier to type up supposedly. Oh and for the purpose to show how the codes are written...

For the colors these are the preset ones used in the forum: red, black, yellow, pink, green orange, purple, blue, beige, brown, teal, navy, maroon, lime green

If you want to post a picture in the forum then you'll have to have your own place to host your images. Luckily there are some free image hosting sites on the net. I prefer to use www.photobucket.com because I can keep track of all my pics in my account. But they're other places...
anyway once you get the URL of the picture (that's hosted by another site) you simply plug it into this simple code.
you can also use the center/left/right tags to arrange the positioning of the image.
Example:
When customizing your siggy you can use these codes to make them more flashy or whatever.

Also there are CL custom made smilies made by Tiff, Mongoose and some other members. For more info on how to use them please go here.

The basic code for making a list:
The code above is for a list with two bullets. If you want to add more then simply add more "[ * ]" to the code.
Tables:
This can be tricky for people who use it for the first time so here goes...
Every table starts with the tag [ table ]* and [ /table ]*. Every table has to have a row and a column. The tag for a row is [ td ] and [ /td ]. The tage for a column is [ tr ] and [ /tr ]. So the code for a table looks like this:
To add another row simply do this:
(just copy and paste the stuff in between the row tags, the more you copy and paste the more rows you get! I'll make two rows for this example.)
It should look like this:
To add another column:
(just copy and paste the stuff in between the column tags, the more you copy and paste the more columns you get! Here I should get 3 columns.)
It should look like this:
Basically you can add as many columns and rows to your tables. The code is tedious but with practice most likely you'll be comfortable with it. Also the table tags the forum uses is no different from HTML (except for the "[" and "]" things) so this can also be used for making websites. Same goes for some of the other stuff mentioned here.
WHEW! I hope that covers most of the tags. Well the important tags. I'm tired but I hope that helps. ^_^
Another note I would like to add is that you should be considerate when you post. Meaning that...

Your Posts/Signature/Avatar should NOT
- give people a headache (dude! My vision is already bad!! )
- offend people (some people can accept offensive material more than others but be considerate to the ones who do. Also there are younger people looking at this forum)
- take up too much space
- take up too much time to load (unless it's a super long piece of fiction or a rule/tutorial tag like this)
