Oh, I definitely don't think Edward hates women. I don't think he has negative feelings towards them at all. I just think he's disinterested in them, whereas the other boys at least show a degree of nervousness around them. However, like someone pointed out, Edward's the youngest Bean Scout. Maybe he just doesn't care about girls yet. I also wouldn't call this a "fight". So far everyone's been really civil. I'd call it an interesting and hypothetical discussion. ;p No one of us REALLY knows what Edward is, but it's fun to speculate sometimes. My opinion is... think what you want. There's no harm in it! If Edward's gay or bisexual in your head, okay, fine. There are reasons to think he is. If Edward's straight, okay, that's totally plausible too. If Edward truly hates Lazlo and that's all there is, well, it certainly wouldn't be my place to say you're wrong. If you think Edward harbors other feelings for Lazlo... okie doke! I'm very neutral about all of this. I just like being the Devil's Advocate, I guess.

I'd call it an interesting and hypothetical discussion. ;p No one of us REALLY knows what Edward is, but it's fun to speculate sometimes. here here! civilness rules ! (i adore this disscution i hate the quiet slump we all go into when no new episodes are airing , it's like bears hibernating in the winter ) i'm pretty sure i mentioned edward's to young to have a set sexuality yet i just said he has a high chance of being gay ^^; yes he did hate lazlo. but people's feelings change over time and that was like the first time they met. you can't deny the feeling of pure loathing derived from jealosy that edward felt for lazlo in that first meeting. but i mean watching the show, in the last two seasons there are hints that edward doesn't hate lazlo as much as he used to... he might even in some cases see him as a friend. (plus lazlo totaly saved edward's life in the end of that movie i don't know what edward's disposition toward lazlo at the end of that) if you know joe murray's email anime blob give it to me i will totaly ask him ! emmacrblovesedward , yea edward loves veronica but she's a doll. he's attached to her but it's not proof he's straight , she was given to him by his mother. edward has a weird connection with love, as a word he can barely say it ( and 'i'm sorry' and 'thanks' and , i suspect any other word that involves connecting emotionialy with someone) but in like 'camp dinkey' he was like "do the camper's love me mommy?" "do you love me mommy?" obviosly he asks for it but doesn't wanna give any. i suspect he doesn't trust people to honestly love him and he rely's on veronica, who he can pretend loves him unconditionaly, (i'm not totaly sure , i haven't researched this yet) but kids tend to get attached to toys when they feel they have no friends. plus kids "tend" to buy toys that are the same gender as them , boy's buy action figures and girls buy dolls, action figures break things with their heads and dolls get dressed up and go out with ken , presumably there's some sexist learning prosess going on >> ..... so getting and getting attached to a doll is not consideled normal hetrosexual boy behavior. quite the oposite really ... it probably hints at attachment problems edward's such a basket case ( i love him X3) it probably is oneof the reasons i think edward should be gay, in a relationship he probably wants to get cuddled and loved but will have trouble cuddling and loving back , most girls won't stand for that, so even if he was bi he'll probably have a hard time getting a girlfriend... but probably all my opinions are BIASED cuz i like edward/lazlo XDDDD

Before going off on voicing my opinions, I woudl like to say that I have fallen in love with this thread. Why? Probably because this is the first thread ever to actually have posts longer than 2 sentences and actually having a discussion about deep thoughts and all that intellectual crap. Finaly, I feel as if my posts aren't "as huge" as the others and that I could type a lot and not feel as if I would be rambling like on the other threads. Please forgive me for not knowing my episode names. Thanks. The topic of romance doesn't float my boat because I could care less how gets with who or who likes who or whatever. That to me is just gossip girls talk to each other about in the hallways during lunch in HS that really no one could care less about. But that's just me. Loves sucks. Anyways, I haven't read all the super huge posts partly because it is passed 1AM and I need to sleep and wake up in a few hours. I think the debate has changed from a love triangle to what Edward is... or something. I don't know. I think Edward's bitterness and arrogence could expresses a type of "aloneness" within deep inside. His Veronica doll, however, brings him pure bliss as he plays innocently with probably his best friend forever. In Helly Dolly, we see Edward's mom expressing "love" and "caring" toward Edward during Christmas Day. With Edward calling his mother by her first name, Susan, it really does show a disconnection... or some other word that meanings that there is a lack of relationshipness (pardon me for the BAD vocabulary tonight; tired). But what about his brothers? I think Sanna brought this theory up on some other thread, but Edward seems to have a piece of each and every one of his brothers inside of him (and if the "gay-looking" brother really is "gay" then maybe Edward's got some gayness inside of him too... but I'll get to that later). There is also the theory of him being short. I mean, if your short... I don't think many people will really take you seriously because people suck like that. So, in order to make up for the lack of height, he toughens up and tries to be the "best" and remain the "best" scout in Camp Kidney. It seems in Where's Lazlo that he sucks up to Lumpus to try to get into his good side (which doesn't make sense in The Nothing Club when Lumpus called him a beaver; but then again, no one knows who anybody is in this cartoon... so whatever). Napoleon complex, yo. I didn't pay attention in Psychology class about this thing... but Edward's attitude toward Lazlo, yeah... I think although he does despise him externally, in the inside he probably does enjoy his company... probably as a rival. I mean, he also needs Chip & Skip in order for him to look smarter in that one episode when he had to watch them dung beetles and that were tied upside-downa nd junk. So maybe with Lazlo at camp, he can feel much more superior if he does "defeat" Lazlo in many different ways. However, in a few episodes like Burpless Beans and that one episode when he's gonna be turned into a gnome or something and needs to get the Lmpus nose hair or whatever... yeah, Lazlo benefitted him in those episodes (however, if Lazlo wasn't there... the problems would be nonexistent since Lazlo usually starts it all). Man, while typing this out... I fear of totally making no sense whatsoever. As for innuendos in this cartoon... yeahhhhhhhhhhhh, I saw that one Dungs in Candyland episode as a reference to the drug business... but no one posted after my theory. Whatever. the Beans & Weenies episode would probably be the one with the most innuendos in it... making jokes about buns, weenies, and soft-pillowly cushions of love. In that recent new episode with Raj getting all these convenient things and he turned into a baby afterward... yeah, I thought it was a weiner which I laughed at (a double belly button perhaps... but we've all seen Raj's belly button looking like a swirly sign... or a Naruto sign or whatever you wanna call it). It's kinda hard to get away with innuendos on TV now because censorship is bad. Seriously, I haven't seen a gun in a cartoon in sooo long. Anyways, at this point, I don't remember what the subject even was. Maybe it's because I'm tired and I cannot function as well during the night. I guess I'll stop it here. Forgive me for going off-topic if I did (I think everyone did... because I haven't seen a love-triangle discussion passed page 1... or maybe that's because I'm dozing off on the keyboard ). Oh yeah, I can contact Murray via the forum's email address. The thing is, I don't wanna bug him with a stupid question like, "IS EDWARD GAY? KTHX." I don't think he has the time to answer such a pitiful poorly-thought-out question like that. BUT, if you can somehow construct a question that has more meat onto it (I would but I need SLEEP), feel free to tell me and I'll be glad to sent it to Murray's way. Make it general like, "Do the characters, such as Edward, reflect any of the people you know?" and then you can hide the "IS EDWARD GAY? KTHX" question within those lines to make it less conspicuous. Again, thanks for the super long posts. It makes me happy... since, you know, I haven't seen much decent posting in my 2 years of being here (no offence forumers).

-v- yeaa super long posts bliiiissssss.. i was hoping we could do something like this in like the character disscution treads but everyones just like "yea" or "no" "i like this char!" i would like to thank silverfirelight for replying to my moderately long post with an even longer post thus starting this cycle actualy netaro this post moved from love triangles to whether or not edward likes lazlo (as a friend) to edward's oreintation thought i think it's starting to lean toward just edward... i don't think edward has any problems being short (correction he hasn't been shown worrying about being short, he probably has a whole list of insecurities to worry about INCLUDING being short ) edward probably does take after his brothers, although i don't know them enough , i see him as learning about fashion (and getting that amazing dressmaking skill) from his gay-ish brother, i don't know what he gets from brother no1(the tall one) edward doesn't seem very sporty probably just the dissing ... actualy now that i think about half of edward's brothers have traits edward want's to get and tryes to copy (i dunno what the hat guy does XD ) 'course we don't see much of them they were like "you bring shame to our family" *leave* XD that line makes me think they're a rich family or mafia of something XP i'm confused by edward's relationship with his mother , first time she apeared he was really aloof toward her (hello dolly) second time (friendward. camp dinkey) he was like i love you mummy!!!! <3 <3 although possibly the attitude change is cuz she wasn't really there the second time maybe he just acts spoiled and like he doesn't like her when she around. p.s. if i did get to email joe murray i'll probably just fawn and thank him (maybe feeling brave i'll slide in a question on whether edward's perceved gay-ness is intentional or not ) and send him that picture i painted ,i once painted a picture for joe murray it's just hanging about now

basicaly i've been reading stuff psychology and biology being some of my favorite subject's. i found this edward has four older brothers XDDD of course science tends to be total hogswash which is why i preffer cold hard statistics like this gender nonconforming children (like boys who play with dolls ferexample >>) have a 63% chance of growing up to be gay. the odds are pretty much against edward now infact I"m gonna have a hard time believing edward's straight your all gonna have to try and convince me oh what fun post long and hard i'm pretty far of the edge now XDD

I'll start with some new ones I'm just curious/fond about before joining in a very short bit with the recent discussions in this thread. I still have like 2-1.5 seasons to catch up on so this is based on what I have watched so far. Also I had a very MSG-y late lunch so as usual a blabbery post with not much format and at times no relevance depending on the recent posts. ---------------- A triangle that would be disastrous if it ever happened -- Susie/Honey (that angry blonde bear squirrel scout) > Edward < Gretchen.[/b] The meaner girls seem to be around him more compared to Lazlo and others. "Dosey Doe" and that "Temper Teepee" episode. I would love to see just how bad this ends up because wrecks are always fun to watch. ---------------- A triangle that would be amusing to only me Edward -> Patsy -> Lazlo[/b]. This popped up in my head when I drew this ridiculous shoddy sketch of Edward oogling over Patsy as Veronica. Patsy and Veronica have the same hairstyle... And just put that pink dress on Patsy and voila! That's gotta distract Edward at least a little bit with how similiar Patsy and the dolly look. Also how those couples/fan-pairings with the rivals going for the same girl or something like that is always fun in. ---------------- A rather uncommon love triangle I tend to fancy is Nina <- and/or -> Lazlo <- Patsy.[/b] For some time the idea of Lazlo/Nina creeps back and takes up a bit of my fan-girling. I rarely call this up because of how... stretched the fan pairing seem to be. Perhaps I just like how Lazlo and Nina are more cool/casual with each other while Patsy would be too love-monkey-crazy around Lazlo. This is the only love triangle besides the Edward <-> Lazlo <-> Raj and such already mentioned that I do like. ----------------------- A rather slashy triangle I've been seeing around, confused but a curious about is ---- Dave <-> Samson <- Ping Pong[/b]. This is probably the most confusing triangle I stumbled upon while looking at CL fanart. I have nothing against it but I'm just so puzzled about how that started. ^^;; ----------------------- slash babbles On an irrelevant note, It's been awhile since I've seen this much digging into the psyche of the fictional character. Or at least here at the forum. Obviously Edward is favorite to majority of slash-happy fans and a big favorite overall to a lot of CL fans (I've seen so far). You all said pretty much I would say about Edward.
In my opinion, "ghey" innuendoes/hints are big in revealing the characteristics of fictional male characters in media (TV, comics, etc.) whenever it is actually used. Why a number females fan are delighted by this slash/yaoi/homo kind of stuff? I don't really know myself for sure but I remember reading one online source when I was just "curious" about how like those friendships tend to reveal to fans a sensitive side of the dude. Or something.
This is probably why this thread is becoming more Edward-slashy centric.
But I remember a lot of slash-fans were so happy about the "pantsing" episode that their response got stronger... and then later episodes of CL started to be more Edward, Lazlo/Edward hinty, and Samson-centric. Whether or not that had something to do with the high approval of the fans of those characters, pairings but the Edward character strengthen a lot as more episodes displaying his relations with the other campers. CL made Edward have tons of interaction with other characters to just show how he acts. Thus the plethora of Edward/Lazlo in this thread.
Summary of that? I think it goes like Ghey (or ghey hintings) =LOTS of potential for one's fictional character to develop LOTS.

(i think hunny berry has been degraded to an idiot character now frankly i dont think she's really mean ) i believe the dave<sampson<ping pong triangle was started by own newly joined kawaiibunny3. i KINDA like it because i havent found anyone else for sampson but i don't see it progressing much, in a non-romantic way i would love for the three of them to interact more (i say this cuz i love moments with them being snippy at sampson ,like the whole toilet paper bussinuss in award to the wise , and dave and sampson fighting over the frankenstien's monster outfit in penny for your dung ) ...if edward saw patsy in veronicaware he might a) think she's trying to insult him and get mad, b) disdain at how pink is just not her color and scuuuze meh ma'am veronica's hair is red or c) ask her to come play tea party with him... i don't consider myself exclusivly a slash fan, i just pair up people that seem to make sense together no matter their gender. (since i like making stories so much i like relationships that will have conflicts and challenges to get through, this is why i'm not a big fan lazloxpatsy too easy you see?) edwardxlazlo is so appealing to me because it seems like it would be a healing relationship , with lazlo doing all the healing , as we've disscused edward has lots of seriose emotional problems and lazlo seems to enjoy dealing with other people's problems (example : appearing a lumpus stalker~ lumpus has lots of problems too) this is probably why lazlo and edward end up in so many episodes together because edward has lots of problems yea ed has interacted with alot character thats the shows job , but it very apparent the characters he closest to are lazlo and skip and chip(though i dont think the dungs have the delicacy to handle edward in a romantic sitchuation) .... : O what you haven't seen all the episodes yet? theyre all in the download eps here thread! thanks to lord diablo go! go! apease you mighty hunger sanna

I've got a journal entry to write... so I'll type as much as I can with the time I have.
WTF? Are we still on the topic of Edward's gayness?
I watched Friendward and Camp Dinkey last night and in Friendward... yeah... that episode was raped of so amny blatant gay jokes. "MINES BIGGERR!!!11" I'm not gonna make a review on this episode here because that's not what you people are talking about.
I could care less about what goes on in the world around me, but I think society is trying to accept the gayness of homosexuals in the NOW. Also, face it: Gay jokes are FUNNY! Like this one time I was on the phone... and the other guy was all like, "I like game making" and I mistook that for "I like gay-making" and so I made many jokes about it until he figured it out. Since censorship has been killing TV in the now, shooting people in the face isn't "funny" anymore... but having hidden gay jokes are... espedcially since the older people can understand the innuendo.
I guess Camp Lazlo is trying to be a Rocko's Modern Life... but aimed only toward kids and no life in general.
I can empathize with Edward in the Friendward episode, partly because all my friends are unreliable users that like to get high and sexually harass my other friends and get into the drug business and hate the police when they get busted. Yeah, so for a year or so, I've been doubting the existence of a real friend since I, sadly, never had one who still around with me. But that's life... and I don't have that something extra a bunch of other have. With Edward, the feeling of acceptance is what makes him happy. Chip & Skip seem to complete him in his army of awesome, for the dung beetles are the loyal types that stick around no matter what (sorta; these guys are unpredictable).
Oh my gosh... I jsut forgot what I was about to say... which makes my empathy story unnecessary. UGH!
Anyways, about Edward & Lazlo. We've all heard the saying, "Opposites attract" correct? It's true in chemistry, and some say chemistry is involved with "love" and all that happy crap I dont' care about. I think the reason people like slashing the two is because they are indeed opposites... and people like opposites together, because they make everything okay. But yeah... that's what I think.
Maybe the writers intensionally made them gay? Maybe the feminen guys at your school are hopelessly in love with your neighbors irresistably hot daughter? Maybe we could care less about what the signs are and jsut conclude their gayness because most people like persuading people to think their way?
Who nose? Snot I!
Of course, you've got to remember that these characters are little kids. Knowing their true ages just kills the awesome... and that's on the Character's Ages thread that I use to post my opinions on and people woudl go "WELL GEE, I'M GONNA SAY THAT YOUR OPINION IS PLAUSIBLE... BUT USING ONLY 3 WORDS: 'That sounds right'" Little kids do a lot of things that make us laugh. Their innocence is amazing because they just think everything is fun and games... while we see their actions throught our corrupt minds and incorperate everything into a sick joke (well, I do. I dont' knwo about many of you, because most of you are boring around here and need to seriously get a sense of humor).
You've got to take account that Camp Kidney is a boy-scout camp... meaning no girls. No surprise. Girls tend to mature faster than boys, so they get into all that sick lovey dovey crap and watch stupid shows on MTV talking about her Sweet 16 that no one cares about. My sister actualyl bought them girly teen magazine going, "LOLOLOLOLOL IS ZAC EFRON A GOOD KISSER!?!?!?!? FIND OUT!" and I just vomitted in my mouth... and then onto my shoes. The guys, however, they just are guys and liek to hang out with their guy friends. Again, these kids are kids.... babies... as in they aren't mature.
I forgot what I was talking about, and yet I continue with my senseless rambling because WTF? Love Triangle and yet we're talking about the non-esistent sexuality of Edward the younger bean scout at Camp Kidney, sending vibes to slash fans that he's got a super dee duper Barney purple dinosaur I LOVE YOU YOU LOVE ME affection toward our happy-go-lucky optimistic Brazillian spider monkey Lazlo?
It's fascinating.
In my opinion, Edward just needs a friend, and not cronies or henchmen or people who are totally terrified of his dictatorship if I can remember the Where's Lazlo cartoon movie well enough. Jokes are funny, but gay jokes are funnier to the older audience. If Lazlo never arrived in camp, Edward would be the "head scout" and totally still boss people around. Lazlo, however, is in camp... and thus creates a rivalry between the two because people liek Lazlo more than Edward. In my opinion, if the two hitch it up... Samson may even have a slightly bigger chance of controlling the metaphoric order of Camp Kidney, exclusing Lumpus and Slinkman... since like, they don't do crap... sorta.

what can we do? it's the most interesting topic since sliced bread.... actualy after watching camp complain I get the impression raj would be in charge (he's so good at it bless him, living up to his name Raj=king ) if the two hitched up yea , i don't think it'll stop edward wresting power from lazlo's grasp and attepting to beat the crap out of him. yea i don't know why i'm posting anymore i've already convinced myself past the point of no return no-ones attempting to bring me back (not that i want to be brought back or take anyone with me i just wish people with other opinions would put up a stronger argument ,,,just for the fun of it ) on a negative note i might be getting adiccted to debating XD gay jokes are funny oh so funny

(i hate jumping into these big long disscussions, cause i have no idea where to start or what to say) but...here i go *dives*
uh, someone mentioned my Pingpong-Samson-Dave triangle. so i'll start w/ that. yes. i totally invented that. XD i love it to death and i have no idea why. it started because i was bored and thought "Samson....who could i pair him up with?" so my initial reaction were the loon twins, and since a love triangle involving twins is fun,.....and...well...here it is! there's no real hard evidence other than the fact that it's cute. they do bicker like a family or old married couple everyonce in a while though (and that makes me smile)
im trying to write a fanfic for these 3 so i can share its wonderfulness w/ the world. but i have no idea how.
....uh. (now what) uh. i'm not really a slash fan (i actually usually support canon pairings) i just like interesting cute couples. and EdwardxLazlo is very interesting and cute to me.
besides, how can u watch Camp Lazlo, a show about little boys at camp, and NOT think slashy thoughts. maybe i'm just twisted that way, but...
oh. and gay jokes= ;D

It's just the shift of humor upon the newer generations of cartoons. Again, it use to be shooting someone in the face was the funniest thing ever. But then again, if you woudl show some old-school Bug Bunny cartoons to some 6-year old... they won't really find much/any humor into it, or won't even recognize who Bugs is (It's very sad! Like, many of the kids noaways don't know who Bugs Bunny is! It's horrible! ). The gay jokes are/have been replacing the comical violence thanks to censorship. @ Hotchoc: I've put my opinions and views down...a nd I could care less if you agree or not since everyone has their own opinions and pretty much no one is incorrect in what they think. I think I tried arguing in a neutral sense... but I always type at night after hours of painting class, so I don't think I'm always thinking straight. HAHAHAHA! But yeah, bias no bias, whatever. Murray and his writers could tell us what the characters are really like, but that kills the fun in the guessing game and the unresolved conflicts, right? So it's jsut fun to imagine but still not point fingers in who is wrong and who is right, because there ain't no right or wrong answer. Oh yeah, and I had fun discussing this with you. Again, this never happened in any of the threads on this forum, and I'm finally happy to actually debate in something without some stupid comment going, "no ur rong they r gay cuz they r *has nothing to back up their claims because they are morons*" So yeah. Fun debating, yo.
Deep thoughts of rantation coming up next; feel free to skip: I think the thing I kinda do dislike about fandoms is that some people do come up with the weirdest pairings ever (Heh, like, once a year I draw Chip licking the face of someone; 2005 - Chip licks Edward; 2006 - Chip licks Clam; 2007 - Chip licks Patsy; I'll draw another one for 2008) and truly truly TRULY believe they were "meant to be together" to the point where they start getting mad at everyone who disagrees and goes psycho and starts throwing stupid arguments and babel about how everyone hates him/her for being "creative." Sure, we all come up with great fandom theories (I've done some myself back in the day... I was a jerk when this forum started... but not as much as a jerk in the NOW ) but forcing people to agree with you is just really uncool. Back in the day our first trouble-maker, Josh the Mongoose, pushed Josh/Patsy to the point where he'll be drawing the most disgusting Camp Lazlo pr0n (FYI, if you draw pr0n... at least draw it decently! >_<) and roleplaying constantly making out with Patsy and all this crazy gross crap that actually made people become afraid of saying "no" to Josh/Patsy (Btw, OC's hitching up with real characters are stupid and isn't interesting at all). Well, he's gone and it was weird, because people seemed to learn from his mistake. That's cool. Of course, people naturally like questioning things... which make fandoms pretty cool. However, in a sense, I think some of them need to at least make sense. Sanna hates crossovers because of like... some Naruto/Camp Lazlo drossover made her so angery because the creator of the crossover (I don't remember who it was, but I don't care) would make Naruto be hitched up with Patsy or something... or turn Sasuke into Samson or something... and s/he couldn't come up with a reason why the crossover would work, but jsut saying "It would be cool... THE END" without answering the question: Why? I'm done.
I can't really contribute much of my opinions on a romance thread because love is stupid and gross. I'm more of an analytical kinda guy and would rather talk about characters and not their gross love moments that I could care less about.

Hahahaha! It's fine. Last year I had some bad luck with the whole friendship thing (drugs and rape) and I'm just going through a lot to the point where I'd just abandon the idea of love for a while until I feel better about trusting other people. No big deal. I'll eventually get over it. AHAHAHA!
