(Hmmm...not sure if this board was for these kinds of problems but ehhh... it's "help")
From what I know you have to a program for movie editing. Computers with Windows XP usually have "Windows Movie Maker" but there are others ones. Next you have to have either pictures or actual video clips. I use Windows Movie Maker when I made those musical slideshows with mp3s and pictures so fool around with the transitions and effects. The program should be able to break up the video into separate clips that you edit and stuff. The only thing I have to complain about Movie Maker is that from time to time the program will just freeze (so save you work alot).
It took me an hour to know how to use it without any guide so it shouldn't be too hard for you unless you have something else besides Windows Movie Maker.
I don't know how to convert stuff you record from TV to your computer so uhhh...yeah...

There many programs like Windows Movie Maker. I can't mention 'cause I don't know much except Sony Vegas. Also, getting clips can be acquired anywhere. Convert stuff recorded from TV varies like DVDs or DVRs. DVDs can be easily converted to AVI or MPEG-4 or others. DVRs are maybe hard, depending which DVR is.

Well, there are various ways to rip the DVD and get a copy from it. I use DVD Decryptor (honestly, I don't think it's a good idea to mention it, since it became illigal and the main website was deleted but some sites provide the installation) but I remember a program that copies DVD files and converts them and save them on your computer. That is, if the DVD is unencrypted (in this case, the recordings on a DVD) then you can use it. It doesn't work on commercial DVDs (like the ones you buy at a market, the movie DVDs). I have never tried it though. But you give it a shot. DVDx WebsiteIf it doesn't work, then I cvan help you find a DVD ripper (from what many people call them)
