^^^We used to have 2 turtles, but we had to set them free in my mom's parents' pond (they were hard to care for, and really stank up the place). The turtles were Yellow-belly Sliders (aquatic turtles), and their names were Daisy and Timmothy.
The Marchman family pets are...
Gypsy, the Dog - Who is female, and is a mixed breed. She's mostly black labrador, and we dunno what the other mix is. We got her after my sis brought her home from school one day (she was a stray, and had an abusive family in the past). She was around a year old when we got her. She was also malnourished, and could hardly bark back then. She is now 3 1/2 to 4 years old, very healthy (aswell as a bit fat), and has the thunderous bark of a pitbull.
Duke and Dexter, the Parakeets - Supposedly male (supposedly, because Duke was laying eggs at one time (which took us by surprise)). Duke is mostly yellow and green, while Dexter is a very beautiful shade of blue, gray, and white. I can't remember when we got them, but they are the oldest of all our pets (5, 6, or 7 years now...). They're tropical birds, which means they're picky about their environment. Yet we have had no problems with these birds ever since we got them. Duke is the alpha-male (
), and the bully. He used to pick on Dexter a lot (but I dunno if he still does).
Simon & Nova, the Cats - Both male. Simon and Nova are also mixed breeds, like Gypsy. Simon is part Siamese, and Nova is part Persian (with the other mixes unknown). Simon is a variety of tan/brown colors, and has a black nose and paw pads. Nova is all white, with a gray spot on the top of his head (which we thought was grease). Nova also has one blue eye and one brown eye (and I thought of the name because of his eyes), and a pink nose and paw pads.
Simon and Nova were also strays, and Simon had the worst of it. When we got him, he had two broken legs, and was badly malnourished. Someone that worked at my dad's office found him in the back of the place. Dad decided to take him home, since we were going to get a cat in the future anyways. He has healed up, and doubled in size since we got him (like a growth spurt or something. His malnourishment was preventing growth, and now that he eats like he should, he just,
poof! Was the size of a small adult cat already...). Simon is also older than Nova.
Nova, on the other hand, was downright lucky. My mom and my sis took Simon to the vet the day we got him. One of the veternarians there came to work that morning. She was hearing meowing coming out of her car, and was surprised to find Nova inside the car's engine! She temporarily named him Miracle, because he was very lucky he wasn't killed. My mom and sis decided to take Nova (who was still unnamed then) home, and it made the veteranarian very happy. I was surprised about his arrival too, and was never expecting it. I also had a serious migraine (really bad headache) at the time he came home. Miracle wouldn't cut it as a name (since it's more a girl's name for pets), and I decided to think of a name (since my parents and/or sis named the others). I decided Nova, since I thought of his eyes when I thought of the name. He was pretty healthy right from the start (from getting out of the engine to coming home), and is also quite fat (more than Simon, that's for sure). He is younger than Simon, but may be bigger than him when he get's older (he's already heavier than Simon).

We have had pets in the past, but they were set free or died. I already mentioned the two turtles we had up top. We had some Betta/Siamese Fighting Fish long ago. I had Rainbow, who was a dark multicolored one (but I never took care of him). And my sis had Sky (dark blue), Strawberry (orange-red), and Sparkle (dark-multicolored, like Rainbow). My sis had 3 because the first two (Sky and Strawberry) died shortly after they were brought home. My Rainbow lived a good 2 years at least, before finally dying. Rainbow, Sky, and Strawberry both came from the same pet store, while Sparkle came from a different one (since my dad though the ones at the previous pet store were sick, even though Rainbow never died like the other two).
Then there's the pets that my aunt and grandparents have had. My mom's parents had a Betta like we did (I dunno if it's still alive though, since last time I saw it, it looked pretty old (it was swimming up in its bowl, and just sinking back down. This was what I saw it doing most of the time).
My aunt is a cat fanatic, not just because she has cats, but because she has countless cat decor around her house. She has had: Samantha (Siamese, and preferred being left alone. Has died), Harry (dark gray, and was friendly and social. Also had no tail (due to some accident). Has died), Jack (can't remember what he looked like, alive), Luka (Siamese, was my grandmother's last cat before she died. Is frightened very easily (you can stomp your foot on the ground, and he darts off). Is alive) and another one I can't remember the name of (who is also alive).
My dad's parents had a few cats too. There was: Buddy (orange tabby, who was very friendly. Has died) Bow (black and white, was rather aggressive. Has died), and Luka (who was adopted by my aunt after my grandmother died).
Also, back in Gainesville, Florida (many many years ago), there was a cat (I dunno if anyone owned him), that hung around the apartment blocks we lived in. He was an orange tabby (like Buddy), very friendly (also like Buddy), and we dubbed him "Yeller" (slang for Yellow).

Now I just need my sis to post some pictures of our pets...
EDIT: Can someone please put Victoria's dog pic behind a link or spoiler? I'm getting aggravated just trying to read my own post...
