This is probably the stupidest thread I've ever created, so feel free to use this dumb topic against me so I could ban you for doing so. WAHAHAHA!
I've always thought we were seriously the only people in the world that openly like Camp Lazlo. I'm surprised there was even a Camp Lazlo group on Facebook, and that site has a bunch of college people hanging around in it (you know, people who actually WANT to learn and care if they have a future or not). What I've noticed was that many many more people dislike this cartoon, would negatively compare this to Rocko's Modern Life, and just think anyone/everyone who likes this cartoon are losers and junk.
Well recently I've openly said that I liked Camp Lazlo... like... to the world. I was all like, "Yes, I like Camp Lazlo! IS THAT SO WRONG!?" and it still kinda felt a bit awkward because I felt kinda alone while saying that.
I mean, people are just judgemental all the time. They can't help it. What I don't get is "What's so wrong with this cartoon that makes me a [insert vulger noun HERE]?" I find that ridiculous.
Lately the people who know of my love for Camp Lazlo ask me why I like it. I woudl always say that it's because "Murray did it." That was my excuse to get through the stupid times in HS... especially since people would degrade your artistic abilities because no one has an open mind anymore.
Look, I don't care what other people think in general... but in a way, it seems that people take you less seriously if you are a legal adult man who likes a silly little cartoon that can't compare to the other funnier cartoons out there.
Eh... it's quite fascinating how people see our forum and go, "wtf is up with this cartoon influencing all these people to remain active?" It's actually beyond me, because I truly do love Rocko more than Lazlo... but I like feeling improtant, I like helping people who aren't stupid, and I like posting opinions on the going-ons in the episodes here and seeing you all grow.
Apparently there is word that "Where's Lazlo" has been nominated for some award (an emmy? sorry, I don't pay attention) and wonder how that could be... since people like many other cartoons more and tend to show more fandom towards those others.
There isn't a lot Camp Lazlo stuff on DeviantART compared to the other cartoons. Heh, that was an unnecessary piece of information.
You guys are comfortable here and love talking about this cartoon, obviously... but I'm jsut curious of the reactions you've gotten when you tell your friends, "hey I like Camp Lazlo."
Other than that, does this happen to any other cartoon you like? I remember being quiet about my fandom for Pokémon waaaaaay back in middle school when everyone would hate you if you liked it.
Unfortunately, we live in a world with people who aren't open enough to accept our differences. I do apologize for rambling on. Heh. I'm tired. Anyways, have YOU "come out of the closet" and told your friends that you liked Camp Lazlo and got a weird reaction from them? Please tell us about it!

I WILL EAT YOU
Sublinal message hehehehehe.
Anyways, I haven't told anyone about how I feel about CL, supposively because everyone would make fun of me...or not. My friends say it's okay liking cartoons. I agree.

Everyone i know incl. family members know i like cartoons in general. Only a couple people know what camp lazlo actually is, and they most probably like it too (although most of them are about 16 years younger than I am :-P)
Well, in terms of public reaction, I don't think anyone's mocking me for liking cartoons. However, I believe its due to the fact that I'm pursuing a carrier in child health care. They might be brushing my cartoon obsession as "He's trying to understand children psychology by watching the cartoons". However, I strongly believe that their point of view will change if I was pursuing a different carrier.
Which brings us back to the fact that this society is really judgmental. Only professionals and rich people are allowed to like "weird" and "immature" things which are dubbed "eccentric".
Anyways as Filburt would say " Alright! Thats enough of that!" Haha, so, I've come out of the "cartoon closet" so to speak, and seem to be quite well accepted due to the circumstances.

Well, my family knows that I watch Camp Lazlo (mom, dad, stepdad, etc.). Why? Because they walk in on me while I'm watching it.
"Hey, whatcha watching, Syd?" "I'm watching Camp Lazlo." "Oh, ok. Cool."
I have told some friends (like the people who live close to me and that I see at school) that I like the show. Infact, one of my friends I've turned onto watching and liking it. However, with most people when I tell them that I like Camp Lazlo, they usually laugh and say that it's for babies. This applies to all the cartoons I watch.

As for me, I don't care who knows I like Camp Lazlo. Heck, when I was a Senior in high school (the first time I discovered CL was right before school started for that year) some classes would make us do this pukey touchy-feely get-to-know-your-classmates junk the first day of school. >.<;;; I was in a room full of Seniors too, and said my favorite show was "Camp Lazlo"... Haha; they didn't even know what it was; I think I made a great first impression when the whole class was all, "What the heck is that?" Haha. I don't care what they thought when I said, "it's a cartoon." Heh, ALL throughout my high school years I'd have cartoons I like on my school folders too, and wore t-shirts with cartoons on it some days as well. xD Sometimes people recognized them on occasion and stuff, which shocked me. xD Most people I'd seen/met in high school were all, like, into live action shows, and oftentimes dissed cartoons. For my friends, one had seen at least a few episodes of CL saying it's weird but she'd watch it on occasion; and my other friends never heard of it or watch it seldom with a neutral opinion on it. I don't have a friend in person who loves the show, like, a lot like I do. Lonely, lonely world. xD As for my mom, she thinks the show "has its moments" but overall thinks it's ridiculous. She rarely gives it a chance, and finds it hard to accept that the Dung Beetles are taller than an elephant and stuff. She can't seem to get past that. And ironically... I've yet to meet someone to openly dis me personally for liking cartoons, but I don't really care if I do ever meet someone to do that. They're just missing out on a great show. Ha.

Off Topic: I'm going to Rocky Point, Mexico for the next 4 days, so I probably won't be here until Monday or so, unless my PSP finds wireless at there.

Eh... I haven't really told people I like Camp Lazlo, exactly... everyone just knows I like cartoons. XD;
My school is kinda weird, actually... no one will make fun of you if you like cartoons, since... everyone likes them. o-O; The popular people sing that "Goofy Goober" song from Spongebob in the hallway, and they wear FHFIF shirts they got from Hot Topic. It's cool, but kinda weird since it's not an elementary school or anything. XD;; I'm sure if there were CL shirts at Hot Topic, everyone would be wearing those, too O:
Anyway, only some of my friends know that I like CL, not all. xD;;

I saw the subliminal message.
Yeah, many of my friends I love Camp Lazlo (on MySpace and other sources). I admit that I love cartoons and I don't worry. I have a best friend who is into cartoons too but said that "CL is OK." They sometimes make fun of me by saying "Camp Lazlo is g*y, so shut up." Usually, they never say it but only when they don't want to argue with me.

*dunks self in BBQ sauce* Eat me, go ahead In all seriousness, my case is similar to Sailor Phantom's. xD No one would make fun of you if you like cartoons (unless they're the little kid kind, except Dora I guess, since 3 girls in my class ADORE her). Kids sing Gooby Goober, half of them wear shirts with toons on 'em. (Gosh, I almost lost count of how many times my Bloo Quiet Itensity (sp?) shirt got complimented, lmao.)

*Pours salt on myself, then lemon flavoring, then chocolate sauce, and finally, garlic.* Dig in man.
Anyway... no one is too old to still enjoy cartoons. I even own a Spongebob T-Shirt. And Where's Lazlo was nominated an Emmy BECAUSE it's popular enough. Maybe the show is even more popular then we think...

REJECTED! You guys are too fat for me and my healthy arteries.
My school is chill like almost all the highschools out there; I openly say I like Pokémon and I'm no less than a man or anything. People still like me because I make them laugh. In Sailor Ember Phantom's case, I don't think Spongebob would be accepted if say, a guy openly says so (seriously, no matter what you say... girls have is easy in fandoms because as long as they are hot, who cares).
I know many of you guys probably aren't in them "groups" out there on campus (keep in mind, I'm in college and I'm reflecting on the dreadful highschool days of mine), but if you are... you probably all have a general characteristic that keeps all of you together. As for me, I hung out with everyone on the status quo from jocks, to nerds, to emo-cutters, to cheerleaders, to drama, to band, everyone. The thing is... if I were to say, "hey guys! I like Dora The Explorer (which in a way is sorta true because Swiper is the best character on there)" I know some people won't care... but others will start to look down on me and think that I'm limited in artistic abilities and all that de-masculinity crap highschoolers do.
HS isn't as bad as middle school, but it's still a popsicle stick up your nose. We truly don't see as much of the judgemental crap as we do... say... on the stuff they show on TEEnick (no offense to those who watch any of those shows; I think they make you fear growing up more than helping you to cope like a man).
Pardon me for rambling again; I'm just that fascinated at why people are stupid.
A few of my friends during grade 12 knew I liked Camp Lazlo; a few of them didn't know wtf I was talking about, so i'd talk to them about Rocko... a more familiar childhood cartoon everyone loved (I have yet seen anyone who disliked it). One of my friends thought I was rather childish because I like Camp Lazlo... which in some cases is true, however she doubted my artistic abilities... until I became the crappy newspaper cartoonist.
That was the reaction I got. Even the young anime artists I went to DownTown Disney many months ago thought I was weird because I like Camp Lazlo... and they liked drawing half-naked vampire zombies eating an underage little girls post-mortis arm after ripping it off. Yeah, they attracted all the people walking by and they thought I drew anime, and when I told them I'm into American cartooning, they were all like, "oh... nevermind." However, that bit is a different story.
Bottom line, I just got weird stares... but I'm totally fine. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna create an army of Camp Lazlo fans and try to kill off everyone who doesn't like the show. Heh. HMMM...
However, reactions online are waaaay different from reactions in real life, since people are way more immature online than in real life (which makes me wonder about them MySpace psychos that defend pedophillia. HMMMMMM).

My high school is very different from normal ones. It's this small artsy school, where everyone believes in creativity and difference, and there's seriously like no cliques. My friends are artsy, emo-y, and all that. Everyone is friendly for the most part, except for a few wierdos. My friends know that I watch cartoons, and they don't care. I've talked about them with my best guy friend, and he said he HATES Camp Lazlo, but he liked Foster's Home until Bloo became reallyreally jerky.
I try to sing him the CL theme song sometimes, but he just drowns it out with songs from musical soundtracks. Yeah, he's one of the drama kids. Anyway, my high school is so freakin accepting of like EVERYTHING. It's pretty cool, and most of us don't act like normal teenagers. We're mostly artsy and you know....all that.

lol i've always been told that I watch such babyish stuff for my age. I don't watch cartoons so much now, I mean I don't even watch tv during the day & cartoons aren't as good as they used to be in my opinion (camp lazlo being an exception!) some cartoons are on at night or on tv on demand- or mon the internet! ^^ which is kool. where i am camp lazlo's only on for 10 minutes at night on cartoonnetwork now, they used to show it on boomerang but i think they stopped some people know i like camp lazlo & when i've said i have they've never even heard of it lol & i say that it's this cartoon or something but it's no surprise to them because they already know i'm a baby lol

My younger brother and I watch CL together. He's a smart kid. Just smiles and rolls his eyes when I make slashy comments. Nobody else really cares.
