Hello Summer, Goodbye Camp Review
This particular episode seemed more Rocko's Modern Life than an actually Camp Lazlo episode. There seemed to be a few more adult jokes than usual, and also the weirdness that made RML what it was is also in this. But that doesn't mean it's a bad thing, no no no no. This was still a great episode that showed more about Camp Kidney in general and a few other things as well.
It seemed as if the writers were trying to go for a mini-movie feel. We got to see some more of Edward's character development again, wishing to be in a better camp than Camp Kidney and even dreaming about Lazlo in a good and helpful way. It's also worth noting that Patsy wasn't as annoying this time around. She's not pushy and she's actually cute. I noticed that there was a surprising amount of Lazlo angst. It's hard to see him get depressed after seeing him so hyperactive-happy-perky the whole series. Hoo-Haa's superior is reveiled at last as well!
The whole theme to the episode was definitly the idea of "Starting Over". Edward wanted to start over somewhere new, Raj wanted the camp to return as something new, and Doe wanted to the boys to be placed somewhere new. Lazlo was the only one who wanted everything to remain the same, and throughout the episode, everybody realized that "The Same" was better than "Starting Over".
One problem I had with the whole 30-minute episode was the lack of Slinkman and Lumpus. Both are only there was the first two minutes and last thirty seconds. More of their commentary would have been appreciated. However, I must say it was funny to see Chef McMussli tied to back of the moving truck.
Psychodelic is an understatement in this episode, especially in the second half with the super strange big/little bean. It was truly a strange episode, but still a great episode thus far. We got to see some extra character development, and also see Lazlo's emotions fleshed out a little more.
One problem I noticed is that the ending felt slightly rushed, and caused me to lose interest during the final moments of the Lazlo/Big Bean at the Jamboree dialogue at the end of the episode. Still... I liked it!
RATING: B+

Definitely different, but good nonetheless. Before I saw it, I suspected Miss Mucus of shutting down Camp Kidney...

Hello Summer, Goodbye Camp
I really enjoyed this episode. It is also the first thirty minute long episode, which was a pivotal move for the series.
It was a good concept for the plot. It did seem RML-ish for the giant bean to come up out of Leaky Lake, but it was still a good scene.
This episode is by far my favorite episode of season 2.

Wasn't it funny when Patsy fainted?
